Planning to buy a compact SUV? Here is everything you should know about Tata’s upcoming compact SUV – Tata Nexon.

Tata’s most awaited compact SUV is all-set for an official launch on 21st September 2017 in a launch event to be held in Mumbai. Earlier, many reports surfaced on the internet claiming that the Nexon has started reaching dealerships across India, and many images of Nexon SUVs in the stockyard and showroom were seen.

And now, with the official launch date out the bookings have also begun with a token amount of Rs.11, 000 only. With this, it can be easily predicted that the Indian won’t have to wait much long to have their hands on the steering wheel of this upcoming compact SUV.

Tata Nexon – The Sporty Compact SUV

The Tata Nexon is going to be launched in the segment which is already being ruled Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the latest entrant Honda WR-V. Tata Motors will be launching their compact SUV with both petrol & diesel engine option to ensure that they don’t miss on any aspect. Tata is going to be very competitive when it comes to the price of Tata Nexon in India. And thanks to the great exterior sporty design, features and the refined engine, the Tata Nexon is going to offer a tough rivalry to other offerings in the segment.

The Tata Nexon is based on Tata’s very own IMPACT design philosophy, which we last saw on the Tiago, Tigor and Hexa. The designers at Tata have ensured that the Tata Nexon scores full marks in the exterior design and styling department. On the front, the Nexon gets chrome finished ‘Humanity line’ front grille, projector headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lamps, sporty bumper and fog lamps. The side profile is highlighted with plastic cladding and 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear gets LED tail lamps and rear spoiler.

The Tata Nexon’s overall design strategy shows that Tata is in no mood to stand behind Maruti Suzuki Brezza or Ford EcoSport in the compact SUV segment. The Tata Nexon has a striking and futuristic design that would attract a lot of young buyers towards itself.

Getting in and out of the Tata Nexon is very a comfortable work to do, all thanks to the high-set seats. There is enough of headroom, legroom and knee room for the rear passengers. However, with the fifth passenger, the comfort level would be compromised a bit. The seats are well-cushioned and comfortable so that you don’t have any problem on your long journeys.

The dashboard follows a simple and straightforward design, which is generally seen on Tata cars. There are small storage spaces like cup holders, hooks for coats and an umbrella holder as well. The quality of plastics used in door knobs and control switches is good. Overall, the interior is spacious, comfortable and has small but useful convenient features too.

This is where, the Tata Nexon scores more than the full marks. The long list of features includes 6.5-inch HD touch-screen Harman infotainment system coupled with eight-speaker system. This infotainment system supports integrated maps, Bluetooth, AUX, USB and Android Auto connectivity and later it would also support Apple CarPlay after an update.

Other features include climate control, voice command support, rear ac vents, keyless entry, push start/stop button, cooled and illuminated glove box, reverse parking sensors & camera and many more. For safety, the Tata Nexon gets ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, hill start assist and other standard features.

  • Petrol:2-litre Turbocharged (Power: 110PS, Torque: 170NM) 6-Speed MT
  • Diesel:5-litre Turbocharged (Power: 110PS, Torque: 260NM) 6-Speed MT

The Tata Nexon features three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport.
